Description
1955-56 Two (2) "Cackle & Crow Poultrypapers - a Month Journal for the Poultry Industry. 16 numbered pages in each journal. It contains such sections as 1) Editorial, 2) National Notes, 3) Equipment, 4) Nutrition, 5) Marketing, and finally stories about people in the industry making news in Genetics and Art. Ending with classified ads, job vacancies, and a breeders' directory. The magazines are dated May 1955 and July 1955. Both editions are in very good condition, although not perfect. There is some wear along the spine; the corers are slightly bumped, both appear to have been folded (probably during travel through the mail.) The interior pages are very clean, again with bumped corners, but otherwise clean. Rare and fascinating "1955-56 Two (2) "Cackle & Crow Poultrypapers - a Month Journal for the Poultry Industry." Published monthly at Ipswich, Mass. by Cackle and Crow Publishing Co. Inc.
This historical post-WWII publication measures 8-1/2" x 11", with 16 numbered pages in each journal. It contains such sections as 1) Editorial, 2) National Notes, 3) Equipment, 4) Nutrition, 5) Marketing, and finally stories about people in the industry making news in Genetics and Art. Ending with classified ads, job vacancies, and a breeders' directory.
The first edition is dated May 1955.
During 1955 the magazine ran a series over several editions, called "Chickens in Art and Literature." On the cover is a photo entitled "Fifth Century Grave Figure. There articles, news and photosfrom all over the country about upcoming events and shows. There is an interesting article on genetics in Chickens.
The second edition is dated July 1955.
The photo on the front shows a poultry exhibition at in Honesdale, PS. Both of these editions contain lots of add for the most up-to-date equipment, feed, egg washers, chicken feed, and disease prevention.
Both editions are in very good condition, although not perfect. There is some wear along the spine; the corers are slightly bumped, both appear to have been folded (probably during travel through the mail.) The interior pages are very clean, again with bumped corners, but otherwise clean.

According to our research the first edition of this publication took place in May 1926, and they continued to publish through WWII, but ceased publication after Nov. 1956. It was continued by the New England Poultry Review.
A unique and educational "1955-56 Two (2) "Cackle & Crow Poultrypapers - a Month Journal for the Poultry Industry," would be a fantastic addition to any Early 1900's book collection!!
