REVISED
ADJUTANT GENERAL'S OFFICE HORSE GUARDS JANUARY 1865
SIGNED BY JOHN VAREVE OF PORT HOPE CANADA
There is a John Vareve on payroll for the military in Huron County in 1877. Perhaps he attended the Cavalry School as a young man, and then was assigned as Lieutenant for this regiment. If this is the same person, perhaps the reason that I'm not finding anything is because he was only living in Port Hope as a child/young adult until he went to the Cavalry School.   The Vareve name seems very uncommon in general.
Instructions for the Carbine and Pistol Exercises for the Cavalry Hardcover
