    Description

ID'ed Civil War Era New York Musician's "Shako" Hat. Inside paper disc label reads:   J.C.F Deecken Military Goods   160 Grand St. New York.
According to Bazelon and McGuinn's book "Military Goods Dealers & Makers 1785-1915," Captain John C F Deecken, of the 5th Regiment,
1st Division of New York Militia
was operating from this address between the years 1859-1876.
This hat is identified to C. Shaw. R.C.B. Size 7 1/8th. There's another name written inside with pencil but to difficult to read.
Missing part of the leather sweatband inside.
Some of the stitching behind the brim and the leather cap is broken.
Still a pretty solid shako that displays nicely.
See all photos for condition before bidding.
    Sold as is. No returns.
