Indian Wars Era US Army Cavalry Pattern 1878 Canvas Covered Canteen w/Cork - Faint Unit Marking: Troop I, 75th Rgt. - Nice Condition
Up for sale is an Indian Wars Era US Army Cavalry Pattern 1878 Canvas Covered Canteen.  This has  faint Unit Marking on front of the cover: Troop I, 75th Rgt.  Nice US marking on the front.  This is the early version with the dished back.  The canteen is used, see Photo's for Condition. You can feel some dents in the canteen, through the cover.  The canvas cover is intact, seams are in good condition.  No rips or tears in the cover.  The canteen has the metal loops to attach a leather shoulder strap (strap is not included).  This canteen has the cork stopper but no chain.
This is a Nice example of popular canteen that was used by the US Army during the Indian Wars period, this style was being used as a general issue canteen up until it was replaced with the US M1910 Canteen prior to WWI.
