    Description

ITEM DESCRIPTION: NICE Early Lee Navy M1895 Winchester bayonet with original leather sheath/ scabbard.   Has the inspectors mark of a triangle with the "T" in the middle on the ricasso (upper blade)  that apparently stands for Ensign Nathan Cook Twining.
There is a name etched into the handle and the leather sheath: N Lihey. The scabbard is complete and original.
Appears to be some adhesive of some kind where the leather body attaches to the upper metal  locket  that holds the leather belt  loop.  Everything appears strong and secure with no looseness in the grip, pommel or guard.
There is no serial number which means it is either worn off or this is an early model before they started mass production.  It is old and well worn, but a great original piece of military history.
