    Original U.S. Army M1881 Signal Corps Dress Helmet.  All Parts including the cords are original period.  The Plume, Helmet Cords, Breast Cords are a nice even orange color.  The helmet body has no cracks.  There is a small section in from of the helmet where a small piece of edging is missing.  The visor lining has some minor cracks and age spotting.  No markings in sweat band.  The torch was later added in 1885. A very nice & Rare helmet.  The estimate during the period were about 250 enlisted in the Signal Corps.
    The double cord on the attachment ring next to the tassel has a bit of a darker color due to someone to tried to touch up the color.  The helmet cords and breast cords are the one piece.    All metal  parts have  the original finish.  The chin strap is also original
