    This is an
    ORIGINAL WORLD WAR I FRENCH MODEL 1874 "GRAS" SABER/SWORD BAYENETTE BAYONET & SCABBARD
    . (Inv. no. 0373) It is about 24 7/8 inches long with an about 20 1/8-inch blade. It is marked on one side of the crosspiece with a CROWN over a D, M in a circle, ?? R L? (in script) . The scabbard is marked 55974 and RL ? in script. The top of the blade is marked MARNE DE ???? 1877. The bayonet is in very good to fine condition . The scabbard has lhas no dents and is in good to very good to fine condition. Originally made for the M1874 "GRAS" INFANTRY RIFLE.
    This bayonet was used from the French Indo-China War (1873-74) up to early WWI. This is outside my area of collecting and expertise and I have relied on references books and the internet. Please email any questions. Starting price is .95. Shipping weight is 4 pounds 2 ounces.
