    Description

    LOCAL PICKUP ONLY
The key elements of this amazing set, consisting of Cowan Pottery centerpiece and accessories, were loaned to the Cleveland Museum of Art for the exhibition
The Jazz Age: American Style in the 1920s
, co-curated with the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum. The credit line in this exhibition's important catalog reads "Collection of Mark Bassett and George Cooper."
Only the 4 pieces shown in the first photo were displayed there, these being a pair of figural triple candelabra, the Dawn figure (pouring water from a jug), and the large base, with winged reclining nude female figures. Black and silver glazes, a Waylande Gregory design, produced in 1929.
Just ONE of the candelabra was sold at a recent Ragoarts auction (held on January 21, 2021) at a hammer price of ,500--which came to ,350 plus shipping/handling, after the 30% buyer premium was added.
Although I have not heard of or seen another public auction figure for a candelabrum, nor for the large base, much less for a set of this size and importance, I do realize that my asking price will be viewed as optimistic.
Even so, in addition to these four pieces, this lot includes the smaller black & silver diamond-shaped base (which is shown with the same Dawn figure in these photos), four diamond-shaped bud vases, two pairs of diamond-shapes compotes (of two sizes), 3 pairs of short diamond-shaped candlestick holders, and 1 pair of taller diamond-shaped candlestick holders.
The only damage of which I am aware is that one of the large compotes has a nick to one point. OUTSTANDING condition for a set with so many angular appendages!
If the buyer would like to arrange UPS packing and shipping after the purchase, I would be happy to deliver the pieces safely to a nearby UPS Store.
