Remington-Keene Bayonet

Socket style bayonet for the Remington-Keene, 45.70 bolt action rifle.
Bayonet measures 20.75 inches overall, blade 18 inches and socket 2.5 inches plus. I purchased this as a Springfield 45.70, but it's not. Diameter of socket not large enough to fit the 45.70 Springfield.
With some research and info from other collectors have determined that this is the Remington-Keene bayonet. That would make this a quite scarce military bayonet. Remington tried selling their rifle to the Army unsuccessfully, as they opted for the Winchester-Hotchkiss. Then Remington contracted with the U.S. Navy and they purchased 250 Remington-Keene rifles, a very small order. Delivered in 1880 they were in use less than 10 years.
Have included several photos and one photo comparing this bayonet to a known to be Remington-Keene. Bayonet is in good condition, once polished military bright. Locking ring turns as it should. Only markings is a faint capital letter U, once had U S on bayonet I presume. U sits to the left of center as if their were once three letters, maybe USN? Have read that the Remington-Keene rifle was marked with a U S and anchor.
