This complete set of 5 stripping clips provide the functionality of a stripping basket while hugely reducing what you need to carry. Usually you will only need to take one of these with you, matching the line you will be using, to fish in the surf, on a boat, or streamside. As you strip in line, you can easily pull the line onto the clip, keeping it out of the water or out of weeds or stuff in your boat. The design minimizes line drag, so you can shoot a line from one of these clips more easily than from a stripping basket. And moving from spot to spot becomes so much easier - just keep the line on the clip as you walk, ready to cast immediately when you sight a fish. The short video below shows the clip in action:

This set consists of all five five clips covering size 1 thru size 5. Each clip is marked with its size. Size 1 has the smallest gap and size 5 has the largest gap. Because  fly lines of even the same nominal size vary in diameter, the clip size number does not correspond to any specific line weight. Rather, you pick the clip the clip size from your set that works best with a particular line you are using. Picking a clip that's too small will result in the line being held too tightly, and that could slow down your shooting line, Picking a size too large results in the line being held too loosely in the clip, with the line potentially falling out if you bend over. Matching the clip size to the line is not difficult, and you quickly will get an idea of which clip to use for a particular line you have.
I've found that typically users are able to strip line into the clip without looking at the clip, and shoot line out successfuly, after just a few minutes of practice. The usual pattern is to direct every other strip into the clip, so that the bottom of the line loop is around knee level or a little lower. The length of that loop should of course be shortened if one is in deeper water or heavy brush. You will also find that having baggy clothing around the clip interferes with its use.

in the surf, on boats, on river edges where the water is flowing fast, and in brush - basically everywhere a stripping basket would have be useful to have. These clips solve the problem of changing location on a stream: strip the line onto the clip, and you are free to walk to your next spot and cast immediately. No tangled mess trying to carry the line in your hand, and no time lost stripping line off your reel so you can cast to that fish you just sighted. For any particular outing, you most likely will only need to take one clip with you, for the line you are using on that outing.
These clips are designed by me and manufactured on my 3D printer. Because they are 3D printed, there may be minor blemishes present. These will in no way interfere with proper function.
