    Description

Post US Civil War Model 1860 Whistle Presentation Staff & Field Sword with Scabbard. Ricasso is marked "The M.C. Lilley & Co." over "Columbus, O" and on the other side is the walking bear stamp which supposedly stands for Abraham Kuller Zu Wald, he was a Solingen sword maker active from 1847 to 1880, so this blade was most likely imported. The guard, grip, and pommel cap all move a bit. The grip shows little wear and is complete. The twisted wire is also complete. The whistle is functional and loud. The double fixed clamshell has the typical eagle with flags on it on one side and on the other side it has a shield with crossed cannons, swords, and rifle. The etched blade has the name "Luther Burns" on it, overall it is straight, no nicks, unsharpened but the tip is sharp, and has a few minor age spots scattered throughout. The scabbard is solid with no dents, it has spots of surface loss scattered throughout, and the drag has a star on one side. The washer is missing. Length of the blade measures 30" (5/8" wide x 3/16" thick), length of the sword is 36 3/8", and overall in the scabbard it is 37 3/8".
