    Description

Post Civil War U.S. Model 1860 Staff and Field Officers' Sword measuring 36" overall with a blade length of 28". Very good blade showing some age patina, light wear and smooth. Blade is etched with the name, "M. Atwood French" along with foliate and patriotic motifs with "U.S." markings on opposite side. Handle/guard has some light looseness. Hinge Hilt Guard moves back and forth well, locks in place. Has a dent free scabbard with three rings showing only light wear. A nice piece that warrants further research.  See photos for further details, clarification, and condition.
